          Park High School

          Student Life & Leadership

Our students enjoy a fulfilled holistic experience at Park High Sixth Form which caters to both their academic and broader needs.

We have a Privilege pass system in the Sixth Form. This is a positive, whole Sixth Form approach to raising attendance, punctuality, engagement, attainment and homework which also looks to cultivate life skills, provides pastoral support and promotes academic excellence. We have three levels of privilege pass; Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

Students also have the opportunity to develop their leadership roles in Year 13 by applying to become School Captains.

At Park High Sixth Form, experience needs to be much more than just studying the A-Levels you have chosen. We want to provide you with a range of opportunities and experiences that enhance your CV, employability and overall skill set. By the end of Year 12, you will be able to compile a personal statement for university and future employers that reflects you as a person, and not just as a learner. Your personal statement on either a UCAS application form or an apprentice/job application form is crucial to make you stand out and everything that you do in addition to your A Levels will be valuable.

Park High Sixth Form has an extensive range of enrichment activities. These are organised into eight-week programmes under three headings depending on whether they look to enhance your body, mind or soul. These include, to name a few: Duke of Edinburgh silver; self-defence; sport; yoga; MOOCS: debating society; Young Enterprise; Reading Mentors; Maths Makers and Curriculum support.

School Leaders and Head Boy & Head Girl

We want to empower our students to become leaders and thus to have the opportunity to participate in the running of the Sixth Form and to organise events across the school. They work with the Sixth Form team to organise social events such as the Prom, breakfasts, quizzes and assemblies, in addition to leading on clubs and a mentorship scheme with younger years.

          Expectations

Park High School maintains the highest possible standards of all Sixth Form students in order to adequately prepare them for qualification examinations and their next step following the completion of academic studies. A comprehensive set of standards are applied to the way students conduct their time with us. Although standards are robust, they are in keeping with what is required for A Level success. If students follow instructions from staff at the first time of asking, without hesitation, students will flourish with the close support on offer at Park.

          Attendance & Punctuality

One of our primary roles as a school Sixth Form is to prepare students for adult life. From the day students join us in Year 12, we set about preparing them to leave us. In adult life and especially the world of work, poor punctuality and attendance is totally unacceptable.

Students are expected to attend all timetabled/planned lessons, registration, assemblies and to attend all other events which take place on normal school days. Regular attendance at our Sixth Form is essential to ensure that each student has every opportunity to reach their full potential. Evidentially there is a direct correlation between attendance and attainment. Therefore, we monitor attendance and punctuality carefully and we expect every student to achieve at least 98% attendance. Non-attendance, without prior agreement, or arriving late to lessons. is viewed as a lack of academic commitment. Excellent attendance & punctuality is rewarded through the privilege pass system.
